Problem

Local businesses depend on marketplace links or WhatsApp Status without having their own professional page. They lose control of branding, customer data, and discovery. Marketplace fees eat into margins, and WhatsApp Status has zero discoverability.

Context

BuatLapak is a public product for Indonesian UMKM. This portfolio entry is based on its live homepage and public feature set.

Product idea

Make business page creation as quick as entering a business name. AI generates copywriting, templates handle design, Google Maps enables discovery, and zero coding is required.

User flow

  • Enter business name
  • AI scrapes Google Maps
  • Auto-generate content
  • Select template
  • Customize
  • Publish
  • Receive WhatsApp enquiries. End-to-end in under 5 minutes.

Build process

  • Clarified the local-business entry point
  • Structured the Google Maps and AI promise
  • Connected page content to WhatsApp action
  • Made the no-code path legible in five minutes

Stack and architecture

The public product is framed around generated business content, templates, Google Maps context, product information, SEO, and a WhatsApp CTA. Internal implementation details are not claimed here.

Outcome or current status

Shipped public product. The live homepage positions BuatLapak as an AI-assisted, no-code storefront builder for Indonesian UMKM.

Lessons learned

  • Indonesian UMKM prioritize WhatsApp over email.
  • Templates must be category-specific (Kuliner, Fashion, Jasa).
  • AI promises must be grounded: the user enters a name, and AI generates realistic content, not magic.
  • Freemium with ads works better than a paywall for adoption.
